While 2020 changed the world, parents didn’t change much up in the way of naming their kids, according to the Social Security Administration.
In fact, the top three names for both boys and girls did not change whatsoever in 2019 and 2020. Olivia, Emma, and Ava are the top three for the girls and Liam, Noah, and Oliver are the top three for boys.
Parents are not picking many new names overall as the top 10 for both genders have changed very little in recent years. The names Henry and Alexander have managed to kick off Mason and Ethan from the boys list.
The SSN notes that the name Henry “has been steadily rising in popularity, last appearing in the Top 10 over a century ago, in 1910.” So congrats to all the Henrys.
The chart below shows the top 10 names for boys and girls for 2020 but if you want to kill some time and look up your name, your kids’ names, or any other name and see where it ranks, head over to https://www.ssa.gov/oact/babynames/.
